Pastor Lawrence and LaDonna Cook
The Reverend and Mrs. Lawrence Cook hail from Indianapolis, where he received his calling to the ministry and to Northern Michigan. Pastor Cook, along with his wife LaDonna and Leslie, their youngest of five children, moved to Roscommon in January of 1989 to establish a church with a group of believers who were meeting in the Senior Citizen Center of Roscommon at the time. In March of that year, we officially became an affiliate church with the Assemblies of God Michigan District. Later, in December of 1989, we purchased our present facility holding our first service on December 10, 1989. Since that time, we have experienced God's rich blessing and He has enabled us to remodel once in 1993 and build a 3600 square foot addition in 2000. In June of 2003, the Lord enabled us to open a Full Gospel Radio Station which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thus completing a portion of our Vision Statement to reach our area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in an effective manner. We continue to seek God's perfect plan for our fellowship and our area.
Pastor Lonnie moved into Roscommon in October of 1989 after serving a four year stint in the U.S. Navy. At first, he continued his education, but soon answered the call to ministry and became the Youth Pastor in April 1990. He has become one of the longest tenured Youth Pastors in the state. Lonnie is a man who wears many hats around Soul's Harbor. He has led our Sanctuary Choir for many years and in many venues around the area. In January 1996, he assumed the position of Worship Leader and has contributed in a magnificent fashion to our services. All of which while continuing a very active youth program. His involvement with youth continue outside the church as he is involved at our local High School athletic program as event announcer, and, he is the Varsity Wrestling Coach at Houghton Lake High School.
